Dr. Subir Dey received a degree in Bachelor of Visual Arts with specialisation in Graphic Design from Govt. College of Art and Craft Calcutta in 2009. He completed a Master of Visual Arts from M.S University Baroda with specialization in Illustration. He also taught in the Applied Arts department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. He completed a PhD in Design from IIT Guwahati with focus on Comics studies. He has published in the International Journal of Comic Arts and his research articles also appear in other national and international academic publications. He has received a distinguished paper award in ICoRD 2015. He received Volkswagen foundation scholarship to attend a summer school on Transnational Graphic Narratives in the University of Siegen, Germany in 2017. Currently, he is serving at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad as an Associate faculty in the discipline of Graphic Design. He is a practising illustrator working in traditional and digital media. Along with practice, he is interested in design research, writing and publications. His research areas of interest include comics and graphic novels, visual language, semiotics, visual narratives and illustration.
